His story is one of those classical zero-to-hero stories scripted in the never-never world of fiction.

Laycon was one of the housemates who participated at the 2020 BBNaija Season 5 reality TV show, tagged “Lockdown”. Laycon is a 26-year-old rapper from Lagos State, Nigeria. Laycon’s full name is Olamilekan Agbeleshe.

BBNaija Laycon admitted he is a sex enthusiast. A sex enthusiast is a person with a strong interest in sex-related conversations, even they though they might not be particularly interested in sexual activity. He also calls himself “A god in a human body”, after reading about Laycon, you will understand he was very correct.

Olamilekan Moshood Agbeleshe was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. He is a native of Bajuwen, Odeda, Ogun State. In 2012, he got admitted to study philosophy in University of Lagos and graduated in 2016 with a second class upper degree.

Laycon started his career interning as the personal assistant to the MD and CEO of Latjum Global Nigeria Limited when he was still an undergraduate in University of Lagos. He moved to Bestman Games, Ikoyi, Lagos where he worked as a sales and business development personnel after graduating from the university. Two months later, he became the personal assistant to the assistant director of welfare in administration and human resources at Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy.

At a tender age, Laycon began rapping and writing songs. In 2014, he was among the ten artistes that performed at the 2014 Coke Studio University of Lagos event. He was also a top ten finalists of the 2017 MTV Base LSB challenge. Laycon signed into Fierce Nation record label in 2019. On 21 February 2019, he released a track, “Fierce” with Chinko Ekun and Reminisce from his second EP Who Is Laycon?. He released another single “Senseless” on 28 August 2020.

On July 19, 2020, Laycon became the 19th housemate in the Big Brother Naija House, and his looks were met with mockery on social media, with jokes like “who brought this mechanic here?” “Big Brother, you have brought one housemate that is wanted by SARS”. Another Twitter user said “why is he looking like the definition of hunger?”

All these tirades, didn’t take long before they melted into intense love for the “haggard” looking Laycon.In the space of almost three months, Laycon’s Twitter handle has 314, 000 followers from a mere 1000+ followers while his Instagram page underwent one of the fastest organic growth, from 5000+ followers to 1 million followers while still in the house on 19 September 2020.

In September 2019, he released a music video titled ‘I Lie’. He revealed on Instagram that he fell off a rooftop while shooting the video. Laycon also lost his father in painful way. In the big brother house, laycon also refused to talk about his mother to protect her. not to mention the unprecedented ridicule that greeted him during his unveiling, Laycon has indeed come a long way. He also didn’t talk about the fact that his genotype is SC so as not to get pity votes. Laycon has truly face a lot of challenges before big brother.

Google search trends, social media discussions have shown that Nigerians are more interested in a few of the housemates and Laycon seems to top the list as many Nigerians including celebrities are praying and hoping that he comes out as the winner of the show. Icons support for Laycon was massive and unexplainable.

Vee and Laycon were closest friends in the house and during Laycon’s alteration with Erica, she stood up for him.

She said the 2020 BBNaija winner changed her mind about a lot of things and that meeting him was a blessing. She also explained how she saved Laycon in the house from a lot of arguments.

”Laycon has got an inviting spirit, I can see a lot people talking about things our friendship has done to him, what they ain’t saying is what our friendship has done to me.

”He has changed my mind about a lot of things, meeting him in the house is a blessing.

”I could have been worse, a lot more quarrels, but he was there for me too,” she said.

Meanwhile! the love triangle with housemates Kiddwaya and Erica, the words of affirmation, the simple outlook, the weird dresses… that picture of Laycon and Nengi, close and partying, our man’s hands on the lady’s curvy body. “At this moment Laycon knew there was more to life than… Let’s just laugh.

During the finale of the show on 27 September 2020, he was declared the winner scoring a record 60% of the total votes cast and went home with the ₦85 million grand prize.

Also, from the diary session in the final week, two of the finalists projected Laycon as the most likely winner. Nengi, particularly said she had always considered Laycon a strong competition, and she views him as someone viewers would love. Neo saw Nengi as a possible winner, while Laycon thought Dorathy to be his biggest competition. Vee said that Laycon had strong plans of what to do with the money, and believes he is deserving of the grand prize.

Laycon obviously made history. Meanwhile, he is still making history as we speak.

From a surfeit of stars, including a swashbuckling son of a billionaire, Laycon came from nowhere, demolished all obstacles and became the undisputed champion of Big Brother Naija Lockdown Season Five.
And the whole world is hailing and celebrating King Laycon.

Laycon emerged from being roundly scorned in his first day in the house because of his looks, to become fiercely loved by the same people who derided him and called him names. You couldn’t get better a plot than the story of Laycon. It is a story many Nollywood producers would itch to write. A typical “gory to glory” situation.

But as they say, “do not judge a book by its cover”. This is Laycon’s story!
